Seventy-five companies trained within 5 workshops on international development and expansion, and almost 400 hectares of investment sites were photographed using a drone. These are the first effects of Business Boost for Małopolska, implemented by the Department of Economic Development and the Technology Transfer Center of the Cracow University of Technology.
Nearly 2.5 million zlotys will be invested and spent on direct promotion of investment potential and SMEs from Małopolska until the end of 2018. The project, co-financed 85% by the Regional Operational Program of Małopolska Province, has entered the stage of implementation of practical support for business. The first few months of implementation primarily involved preparation of the documentation, elaboration of the public procurement, and the selection of contractors for the individual elements of the project.
The implementation of the “Business Boost for Małopolska” project started with the recruitment of small and medium enterprises from the Małopolska Province, which have a strategy or elements of the strategy for international expansion and are operating in the sectors of the Regional Innovation Strategy of the Małopolska Province. In the course of promotion and recruitment alone, 75 participants were acquired for the workshops, which took place on the following dates:
- March 16, 2017: Workshop “Building and implementing an export strategy in an enterprise” – Cracow, Center for Technology Transfer – Cracow University of Technology;
- March 20, 2017: Workshop “How to grow your business in foreign markets to succeed” – Cracow, Center for Technology Transfer – Cracow University of Technology;
- March 21, 2017: Workshop “Building and implementing an export strategy in an enterprise” – Tarnów, DESK Business Zone;
- April 24, 2017: Workshop “Protection of intellectual property, the sword and shield of an entrepreneur” – Cracow, Center for Technology Transfer – Cracow University of Technology;
- May 12, 2017: Workshop “How to grow your business in foreign markets to succeed” – Tarnów, DESK Business Zone.
The participants in the workshop were the companies that were recruited during the recruitment process. These were companies operating in the Małopolska Region, from the following counties: Cracow, Limanowa, Miechow, Olkusz, Oswiecim, Proszowice, Tarnów, Wieliczka, City of Cracow, and the largest group, 24 companies from the City of Tarnów.
In the first and second quarter of 2017, a part of the Tarnów Agglomeration’s investment areas was prepared for implementation: City of Tarnów, Municipality of Lisia Góra, City and Municipality of Żabno, City and Municipality of Radłów, Municipality of Wierzchosławice, City and Municipality of Wojnicz, Municipality of Skrzyszów, Municipality of Tarnów, City and Municipality of Ryglice. Representatives of associated municipalities each selected 4 best complexes for real estate investment, or which had potential for future investment. On April 18-22, a professional drone operator made several hundred aerial photos of the indicated 36 areas. This is an additional form of promotion, which neither the City nor the municipalities had before.
Several dozen participants representing the development sector, logistics and shopping centers, took part in a business meeting prepared by the Department of Economic Development as part of “Business Boost for Małopolska”. The meeting was held as part of the REAL CONNECT Real Estate and Investment Fair, April 26, between 12:00-14:00, at the Warsaw Trade Fair Center EXPO XXI. The conference room in which the meeting took place, devoted to the investment areas in the Tarnów Agglomeration was located close to the stands of other exhibitors, such as: Polish Association of Shopping Centers, Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency, Military Property Agency, Bydgoszcz Regional Development Agency, Investor Assistance Center in Skarżysko Kamienna, Gliwice – City Hall, Municipality of Koszalin, Legnica – City Hall, City of Poznań, Murator.pl and many others (full list: http://www.realconnect.pl/pl/uczestnicy)
As part of the project, unlike other exhibitors, Tarnów prepared a business meeting – a special presentation that not only promoted more than 700 ha. of investment grounds in the Tarnów Agglomeration, but also presented both the touristic and historical value of Tarnów . The Tarnów meeting attracted 51 participants, making it the most popular meeting apart from the inauguration.
It is also worth noting the presence of Mr. Grzegorz Mickiewicz, Advisor to the Political Cabinet of the Minister of Development, at the end of the meeting.
After the official part of the meeting, the employees of the Department of Economic Development presenting the offer of Tarnów and the Agglomeration held over a dozen individual meetings with people interested in the offer of investment areas. First and foremost, interest was expressed by representatives of the following sectors: FMCG, logistics and hotel. During the Fair and the meeting itself, 80 packages promoting the investment offer for the Tarnów Agglomeration were distributed, as well as materials promoting the City itself.
In the third quarter of 2017, work will be completed on the launch of the Integrated Platform of Investment Offers for the Tarnów Agglomeration – an Internet portal dedicated to business, pro-entrepreneurial issues and investor assistance and the promotion of investment areas. At the same time, video footage will also be featured, created in the form of a 5-minute clip promoting the values of the municipalities of the Agglomeration and the Integrated Platform of Investment Offers of the Tarnów Agglomeration. In the third quarter of 2017, the nationwide promotion of real estate investment and the portal will also be launched. Billboards will appear in 10 provincial cities, advertising in 8 dailies, and radio spots on 4 radio stations.
Shortly after the end of the holiday season, a tender for the organization of 5 trade fairs and an economic mission will be held for economic events. These will include:
